Wellmaker ... well yes, they will make you want to get up and dance.
Putting some oomph into country and blues favourites, Wellmaker takes inspiration and content from Bob Dylan, Ben Harper, Johnny Cash and Donovan, they all get the treatment. They were boppin' the blues last night at The Hornsby Inn, the best live music venue on the Upper North Shore. Click on the thumbnail in the sidebar to see more photos of Wellmaker.
Trevor Hill - vocals and guitar, Andrew Staal - vocals and guitar, James Gahan - bass, Dave Milligan - drums and percussion make up the the band that makes you well - Wellmaker. Put on yer dancing shoes, the joint is jumpin'.
Top band ... Calling Mayday ... with some great achievements under the belt already ... been on Rage TV, performed at the Cosmos Lounge and the Annandale, Lansdowne, Orange Grove, Hornsby Inn with fixtures lined up at the Fitzroy, the Valve Bar, Newtown and the New Victoria, Tea Gardens to name a few.
Get to see them .. as soon as you can .... in the meantime, you can get a taste of the show right here Calling Mayday ...
Kevin Borich .. still spectacularly full-on, live at the Macquarie Arms ..
.. terrific show ... full of blood and guts ... get to see him soon ..
.. at the Fitzroy Pub, Phoebe Juskevics, ace drummer in the Adam Hole and Marji Curran Band brings a bit of je ne sais quoi to the boozer ...
.. and here's Marji herself ... glam and blues here ...
Talking of glam, down at the Red Light Vault 146, some soft rock with Anikiko ... folks with Nikons and Canons all giving up, but no problem with the rouge for the Fuji S3 if you know how to handle it .. likewise at the Jolly Frog (see Dave Tice Band below - dark as well as red light)
The Dave Tice Band performing at the Jolly Frog Hotel, gee it was dark in this dive and again in the red strobes ... f/4 and my favourite lens plus a few in-camera tweaks ... if I tell you I will have to kill you ... and the axe looks like a Bo Diddley Gretsch ..
.. performing in the Town Square, the terrific Billy TK Jnr Band - the band had a good sax player - reminded me of the world's best saxman Jim Horn - if you don't know who he is, you should ....
... ah yes, and here's Billy himself ... getting into a bit of attitude ..
Nathan Ward of the Driving Conditions, a great Brisbane band, getting out of first gear at the Fitzroy Hotel .. he's a good lad - just a bit worried by the Caledonian keks there Nathan ..
... and a bit of their CD "Full Throttle" ...
Chase the Sun in action at the Windsor Macquarie Arms .. possibly the best band I have seen for some time ... loved them I did
... great sound, great guitarist ... really good ..
.. Jasmine Rae kicking up a storm at the Macquarie Hotel ... I dunno, bubble gum ...
.. and from the big pretty of Jazza to the big voice of Gail Page at the Fitzroy
.. Marshall and the Fro getting up a sweat at the Thompson Square Gardens
I like the Fro ... pretty good stuff - whoops, spoke too soon - maybe not so pretty but excellent ...
.. the owld Capricorn Dancer, Richard Clapton, everyone else thought it was good stuff ...
.. I went home, past my bedtime ...
.. making sure the music doen't get up yer nose, Richard Perso playing guitar, gob iron and three didgerydoos at the Fitzroy; yeah, right ...
.. a great Melbourne Band, the Snowdroppers at the Town Square ... loved the Snowdroppers ... top class performance ... let it snow ...
.. in the Mall Pavilion, the Bondi Cigars set the stage alight ..
.. it's enough to make The Fumes, well, go up in smoke ...
... noise, gadgets and sliding sounds ... all the band were sitting down - both of 'em ...
