Rusty Truck

Rustycar

Where   : Bobbin Head, Turramurra, Australia

When    : Friday 12th March 2010

Weapon : FujiFilm S3 Pro

At last I am starting to use the S3 that I bought from my friend Jon in Canada 2 years ago.

It is a bit different from the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P72 and the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 that I have been using.

For a start, it is h-u-g-e in size comparison, paricularly with the 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED IF AF-S VR DX Zoom Nikkon lens.    The whole beast has an at-first, daunting set of controls that need to be set. It is fairly heavy too. This is a serious snapper slapper.

Still, I am starting slowly, in P(rogrammmed) mode. We shall see.

Scarlet O'Hara

Boug0210

Where   : Turramurra

When    :  Tuesday 9th February 2010

Weapon : Panasonic DMC-TZ3

One of my favourite bougainvilleas, the Scarlet O'Hara is a vigorous, low maintenance climber and creates a large, dazzling scarlet display. The semi-evergreen leaves hold on well in winter. We have trained this beauty over and through the wrought iron bits on our front porch.

Industrial Ponzi

Indwaste

Where   : Balmain

When    : 10 January 2010

Weapon : Panasonic Lumix TZ3

Where will it all end ?   I think the planet is overpopulated - we need to raise the standard of living by having fewer people to share the world's wealth - rather than funding capacity to look after the expanding populations by pumping in more children - the final Ponzi Scheme.

Young Endeavour

Endeav1

Where    : Sydney Harbour

When     : Friday 12th February 2010

Weapon  : Sony P72

I was out with a few pals fishing when we were passed at high noon closely by the Young Endeavour.

What a fine looking vessel she is too.  no, she is a beautiful chip.  My word, I was quite taken aback as she sailed past just 30 metres away.

STS Young Endeavour is an Australian tall ship, presented as a gift from the United Kingdom for Australia's bicentenary of colonisation in 1988. She operates as a sail training vessel and is operated by the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). The vessel was designed by naval architect Colin Mudie and is brigantine rigged.

The ship conducts voyages for young Australians aged between 16 and 23 years. 24 'youth crew' are selected by ballot process twice a year, for an eleven-day voyage.

Death in the Dust

Collector

Where   : Collector, New South Wales

When    : 12th February 2010

Weapon : Panasonic Lumix TZ3

We went down to Canberra to see the Masters Exhibition ... including one of Van Gogh's "Starry Night"s ... and stopped off at Collector. Here, Constable Samuel Snelson {sic} aged 37, was shot dead on the 26th January 1865 when he took on bushrangers John Dunn and Ben Hall outside this pub. Samuel was married with 8 children. John Dunn, aged 19, was hanged on the 19th March 1866 at Darlinghurst Jail in Sydney for the murder of Constable Snelson.

When    : 26 November 2009

Located along the Murrumbidgee River and Muniong and Yambla Mountain ranges, Gundagai is 390 kilometres south-west of Sydney.

I took this shot on the Nangus Road about 1km out of town.
