What : Meeting Residents & RailCorp
Where : Wahroonga Station
When : 11-00am Saturday 15th May 2010
Weapon : FujiFilm PinePix S3 Pro
Today's meeting saw some concerned residents of Wahroonga confronting representatives of RailCorp and their heritage, arborist and landscape consultants regarding the slated removal of 5 old fig trees on Wahroonga Station.
The trees evidently are to be removed under the supervision of the Heritage Council and replaced with 6 Blueberry Ash trees. I think there may have been 50 or so local residents who met the RailCorp people - the meeting passed reasonably peacefully. Whereas the trees are quite old, maybe 90 years according to one resident, they are certainly unsuited to a platform life - causing damage through their roots system and presenting some challenges regarding access, safety and electricity power lines.
